Camping is becoming one of the most popular honeymoon getaway ideas. It’s affordable, special, and fun. That is what my husband and I did back in 2009. It was the cheapest way to have a honeymoon and was the perfect idea. Romantic camping trips are easy to plan, and even if you do not have a lot of camping experience, you can create some amazing memories while camping.
Creating the perfect romantic camping experience is very easy. My husband and I take romantic camping trips together yearly, especially on our anniversary. To have the perfect camping trip as a couple, here are a few tips for the ideal romantic outdoor camping adventure.
Tips to Create Romance When Camping as a Couple
These tips will give you the most memorable and romantic camping getaway. If you have other tips that would be helpful, be sure to leave them in the comments below.
1. Get Dressed Up
Camping isn’t just ugly flannel flannel shirts and practical clothing. Just because you are in the woods doesn’t mean you can’t feel pretty. Make sure you pack some cute camping clothes, your make-up, and your dry shampoo. I like to keep all of my camping gear in separate compression sacks so I am not fumbling around looking for my lash extension glue or my favorite camping nighty. Be sure to feel beautiful when you are camping.

2. Create a Romantic Atmosphere
Nature is romantic all by itself. But you can set an even more romantic tone while dining under the stars or getting cozy in a double sleeping bag. There are so many camping essentials that help create the special romantic ambiance that you are looking for. Some great gear items to pack are:
- Double sleeping bag
- Couple’s camping chair
- Bluetooth speaker (don’t forget to download the perfect camping playlist and songs)
- LED camping lights
- Camping picnic basket
3. Cook Your Dinner as a Couple
Cooking dinner together while camping can be a fun and new experience. There is nothing like cooking over a campfire or putting together a charcuterie board in the woods. You can often find easy recipes to make in special camping recipe books. And smore’s can be a very romantic treat.
4. Find Outdoorsy Things to Do as a Couple
It’s not just sitting by the tent all day doing nothing. There are so many outdoor activities that you can try while spending time together as a couple outdoors. Try a new micro-adventure, stargazing hiking, or fishing. Find the perfect outdoor activity to enjoy with your special someone. My husband and I enjoy bird watching or just sitting in nature.

5. Make Memories With The Perfect Camping Spot
KOAs and public campgrounds are fun for family camping. But, as a couple, it’s nice to camp away from everyone else. I often look for out-of-the-way places where it’s legal to camp but it’s not right by everyone else. Free camping and boondocking are great options and I will often check camping apps for recommendations. Another great idea for a romantic camping getaway is to go camping at one of the best national parks.
So wherever you decide to go, make sure that you plan the most memorable and romantic camping trip with your special someone. Remember to have fun and enjoy the one you are with. Do you have any camping tips for a romantic getaway? Drop a comment below so we can add it to the post.
